Objective of the Award

Nominated for CRY Child Rights Champion Award 2013

CRY would like to play a leading role in making child rights a priority for Indian corporations. The award is therefore being instituted with the intention of recognizing and rewarding corporate action for children's rights. The award will recognise Indian companies who have demonstrated their commitment to children. This is the first such award of its kind in India. Children comprise close to a third of the world's population. They are the planet's most vulnerable members as the impact of human rights violations or environmental degradation impacts them the worst. In the inter-connected world we live in, business has the ability to have an immense positive impact on the lives of children - through products and services, influence and advocacy with peers, and efforts in community engagement and contributions to a more sustainable world. The Award will recognise companies who have ensured that their business policies and practices include children as an integral stakeholder. Companies can either apply for the Awards themselves, or be nominated by others. The Award will be judged by a Jury comprising eminent personalities representing the government, civil society and the corporate sector.
